Beef Steak and Home Made Garlic Bread

Hari tu borak2 ngan 3rd SV aku...dia mengusulkan satu cdgn baru utk project makan2. Beef steak. Aku stuju jer ngan proposal baru nih. Dari hari tu lagi nak start wat eksperimen dapur nih, alat radas sume dah ade dah...tp memandangkan bahan utama iaitu daging lembu halal belum diperolehi, maka ekperiment tu tepaksa ditangguhkan sehingga ke hari ini.

So, daging dah ada...apa lagi...eksperimen dimulakan...

Bahan2:
[Beef Steak]

Daging
Bawang merah & putih
Black Pepper
Halia
Sos tiram
gula & garam
(yg ni takde sukatan, agak2 je la, begantung kepada brapa byk daging yg digunakan)

[Gravy]

2 sudu besar butter
2 sudu besar tepung gandum
3 cawan freshmilk
1 tin slice mushroom
2 sudu besar ground black pepper
3 sudu besar kicap manis
2 sudu kecil serbuk perisa ayam

[Side dish]

French Fries
sayur2an / salad
garlic bread

Methods:
[Beef]
  1. Ketuk2 manja daging (ni petua sv, katanya nak bg daging tu lembut & senang dikunyah)
  2. Lumurkan dgn bahan2 lain yg telah dikisar halus
  3. Perap beberapa jam
  4. Bakar atas frying pan / grill / arang kayu
[Gravy]
  1. Cairkan butter dlm kuali
  2. masukkan tepung, goreng seketika smpai cam menggelegak
  3. masukkan freshmilk, mushroom, black pepper
  4. masak hingga menggelegak or hilang rasa tepung
  5. masukkan kicap dan perisa ayam(sedikit demi sedikit coz takut masin)
  6. masak hingga kuah pekat, klu rasa pekat sgt, tmbah la air or susu
[Home made garlic bread]
  1. Kisar butter, garlic & parsley(yg kering & grounded tu)
  2. Sapu bancuhan no. 1 atas roti
  3. bakar dlm toaster (kalau xde toaster, bakar je dlm oven, tp make sure atas jaring besi, kalau letak atas tray, bawah dia nnti x rangup..)

Results & Analisis:

rasa steak & gravy mirip2 menu di Hotel Nikko...rasa garlic bread mengalahkan Delifrance**

**analyses were based on the chef's blowing her own trumpet..kui2 taste buds

End Product:

Suggesstion for future experiment:

Masa buat gravy tu...esp sebelum letak kicap, rasa dia sejibik mcm mushroom sup campbell tuh...so, pas ni, kalau nak senang, pakai je la mushroom sup campbell tuh, masak cam biasa, cume tambah black pepper & kicap (utk bagi effect gelap sket)

Takpun, kalau rasa2 nak makan garlic bread & mushroom sup, tp mushroom sup xde kat umah, leh la try resepi tuh...cume xyah letak kicap & black pepper tu...

Aku wat garlic bread sendiri sebab aku tak suka garlic bread yg dlm bentuk baguatte tuh...lgpun, nak habiskan roti nih sblm dia expire...kui2

Oklah...slamat mencuba!!!

Ice Cream Cake

I decided to try Nigella's Ice Cream Cake. You can get the full recipe from her website.

As usual, I failed to get hold of all the listed ingredients. So, I went for substitute.
I couldn't find Nestlé swirled milk chocolate and peanut butter morsels on the store's shelves. So, I used dark chocolate chips instead. You can use any chips you like, white, red, green, dark chocolate chips except potato chips...huhu... I couldn't find honey roast peanut either, so I grabbed a packet of honey roast peanuts & cashew nuts (kacang la jugak kan...).

In Nigella's recipe, she pours Butterscotch sauce to the ice cream before serving. I didn't make the sauce for I afraid the ice cream will be too sweet (malas sbnrnya...huhu).

It was so easy, in less than 20 minutes, my ice cream cake was ready. Tips: don't forget to cover your baking tray (I just used tupperware) with clingfilm before you pour the ice cream mixture. It will be handy when you want to take the ice cream cake out from the tray.

So, here goes the recipe:

Ingredients:
1 liter of vanilla ice cream
100g honey roast peanuts
200g chocolate chips
1 Crunchie bar, broken into shards and dusty rubble
150g Bourbon biscuits broken up into crumbs and rubble

Method:
  1. Let the ice cream soften a bit.
  2. Place cling film in a cake mold / tupperware
  3. Mixed all the ingredients and scoop the mixture in the cake mold
  4. Cover it with cling film and put in a freezer to firm up
  5. Before serving, let it soften and sprinkle some chocolate chips, chocolate rice or Bourbon biscuit crumbs.

The end result...

p/s: I've made this cake a couple of times because of high demands =)
